Our story began in 1947 when Pete Reichardt opened Reichardt’s Esso at the corner of Route 40 and Frederick Road in Howard County, MD. What started as a local service station grew into a family tradition. As a child, Jim Neubauer learned the value of hard work early, cleaning windshields and helping customers at his grandfather’s shop.

In the 1970s, Jim’s father, Will Neubauer, purchased and rebranded the station as Neubauer’s Exxon. Jim worked his way up from cleaning restrooms to turning wrenches full-time after school. In 1989, he took over the business and continued building on the foundation his family had created.

In 2002, Jim transitioned away from gasoline service and purchased the building on Chevrolet Drive in Ellicott City, MD, establishing what is now Neubauer’s Auto Repair. Today, his children Chelsea and Seth work alongside him, making them the fourth generation of the Neubauer family in the automotive industry.
